3-tier carts are a stylish, compact, portable option that work great in almost any room but really shine when you need to pack a lot of storage in a small space. Read on for my favourite ways to use this versatile and affordable product to get organized!

Why Use a 3-Tier Cart to Organize:

First, let’s review what makes 3-tier carts an organizing powerhouse:

 #1: Arts & Crafts Organization & Storage

One of my favourite ways to use a 3-tier cart (in my own home and client projects) is to store arts and crafts supplies. Add containment for the different categories (you can use drawer inserts, recycled jars, dollar store bins, magazine holders, pencil boxes, zippered pouches, etc.), and you can pack a LOT of supplies on these three tiers.

Not only is everything visible and accessible, but the cart’s mobility allows you to keep it close by when crafting and then roll it into a corner or closet when not in use.

#2: Baking Cart

I also love creating baking carts for clients using 3-tier carts. We fill the cart with the most used baking ingredients, and instead of multiple trips to the pantry or cupboard to get supplies, clients can roll the cart out and have everything at their fingertips.

#3: Snack Cart

Staying in the kitchen, I recently used a 3-tier cart to create a kids’ snack station for a client whose small kitchen was short on storage. Moving the snacks out of the primary kitchen prep and storage area created more room for other kitchen essentials and a better flow for the space overall.   

#4: Bedside Table

When my daughter’s bedroom got a makeover a few years ago, we used a 3-tier cart as the second bedside table.  It was just the right size to fit the narrow space between the bed and the wall and still provided lots of storage.

#5: Hair & Makeup Station 

When I helped a teen client organize her bedroom, we repurposed the 3-tier cart she already had to create a hair and makeup station.  It can be rolled up to the mirror when getting ready and then placed back against the wall when done.

#6: Giftwrap Cart

My gift wrap carts are one of my favourite systems in my house made with this 3-tier cart from Michael’s that comes with a gift wrap organizer. I have a Christmas gift wrap cart and a regular gift wrap cart that I store in a guest room closet and roll out when needed.

The pegboard and accessories with this cart make it an excellent option for arts and crafts, Cricut and office supplies.

#7: Office Storage 

Speaking of offices, a 3-tier cart is great in that space, too! It can be used for additional storage alongside a desk to keep the main desk area clear.  Or, if you don’t have a dedicated office space, you can create a mobile office you can tuck away at the end of the day with a 3-tier cart.

I use one in my home office as a mobile Cricut station; it lives in the closet and gets rolled out when needed.

#8: Home Gym Storage

When helping a client set up a home gym in a small spare bedroom, the 3-tier cart was the perfect piece to store blocks, sliding discs, wrist and ankle weights and other small workout equipment.

8 More Ways To Organize with 3-Tier Carts:

While these are some of my favourite ways I’ve used 3-tier carts, there are many more possibilities.  A 3-tier cart can be used as extra storage for toiletries and towels in the bathroom, as a baby changing supply cart, as a beverage station/bar cart, as a bookshelf, a homework station, a mobile cleaning cart, a sofa side table additional kitchen storage to name just a few more.
