#1 Shelf Risers

First up, shelf risers; I use them in my kitchen and almost every kitchen I organize. They instantly increase storage, visibility and accessibility, are easy to add and relocate as needed, and they’re budget-friendly.
#2: Command Hooks

Command Hooks are excellent for making use of vertical space. In my kitchen, I use them to store my green bin and pot lids on the inside of cabinet doors, and in client homes, I’ve used them to hang cleaning cloths, rubber gloves, colanders and BBQ utensils inside cupboard doors.

#3: Inside of Doors

The Command Hook solutions above could also fall under this category, but there are many ways to utilize the space inside doors that don’t require Command Hooks, including a cabinet door bin (mine screws in, but you can get adhesive ones like this or this). I also use an adhesive dry erase sheet inside a cabinet door as my weekly meal planner/shopping list and simple tape to hang the school calendar. By placing these inside cabinet doors, the information remains easily accessible without creating visual clutter.

#4: Bakeware Racks

One of the hardest-working products in my kitchen is the bakeware rack. I have five and using them increases the visibility and accessibility of my oven pans, cutting boards, casserole dishes, serving trays and baking and muffin pans.

#5: Tension Rod

While I only use one tension rod in my kitchen, it serves the very important purpose of storing my pot lids vertically in my pot drawer. The drawer was too wide for a conventional drawer divider, so I thought outside the box and used a tension rod. My pots neatly nest, and the lids are neatly contained while taking up very little space.

#6: Drawer Dividers

While drawer dividers were not right for my pot drawer, they are perfect for the drawer where I keep my casserole dishes. The height that the base of a bakeware rack added meant I could not use one for my biggest casserole dishes in the drawer. But drawer dividers provide the same great vertical storage with no additional height, creating a perfect fit for these larger pieces in the drawer.
#7: Book Bin/Magazine Holder

I use book bins or magazine holders to store and contain mixing bowl lids, vacuum seal accessories, and our lesser-used extra-large pot lids. They neatly contain and store these items, which would otherwise take up a lot of space left loose on shelves or in drawers.

#8: Bins

I use narrow bins in my drawers and cabinets to vertically store and contain items, including food storage lids and small appliance accessories. Just like the book bins above, these bins serve to neatly contain items, maximizing space and improving visibility and accessibility.
#9: Paper Towel Holder

This under-the-cabinet paper towel holder means there is one less item on my counters. It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference. And for anyone wondering, I do have under-cabinet lighting, and this holder works perfectly with it.
#10: Under Sink Organizer

I maximize the storage space under my kitchen sink with an expanding shelf organizer with drawers, which, unfortunately, is no longer available. But there are lots of great under sink shelving organizer options available like this or this; you just need to find the right one for you. Alternatively, you could use shelf risers or stackable drawers.

BONUS Vertical Storage Ideas for the Kitchen

Some vertical storage ideas that weren’t right for my space, but that I love and have used in client projects include tiered can risers, two-tier turntables, a pot holder, a stacking bins and a vertical spice rack.
Conclusion:

You don’t need an expensive renovation to create more space in your kitchen; you just need to better use the space you already have with smart vertical storage solutions that not only maximize your space but also improve its function!
